The environment that your Mustang battery  lives in is way different than
the environment than the BJ8
Heat kills batteries.  Underhood temps on a modern car are ugly hot.  heat
shortens the life of the battery.
Here is an example  Series III XJ6 a top of the line Delco battery lasted
18 months.  You could almost set your watch by it.
The battery was located at the firewall on the exhaust side of the engine.
It got cooked.
XJS on the other hand, the batteries lasted 5-6 years, the battery was in
the trunk.

In a modern car, after 3 years the battery is on Social Security, after 4
years the battery has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.
