Rover was a separate company when it bought the rights to the General Motors
all alloy V8. It's only when they were taken over by Leyland that they
started to go downhill.

Na, can't wear that, what company short of money flies it's British sales
team to Belgium for sales meetings? Pour money into a hopeless V8 design for
the Triumph stag. Build a 6 in Australia, then another 6 for the MGC in
England. So many bad decisions........ On the up side the smartest move they
made was getting hold of the Buick V8 :)
