Ham fisted sandblasting will always cause damage. To generate so much
heat while sandblasting these springs must have taken quite some effort.
Always use a fine grit or glass beads and moderate pressure and check
the heat regularly in the springs while at the job. It should not cause
any problems at all, unless the springs are so rusted that they should
be renewed anyway.
