replaced a brake light switch a few weeks ago on a bj7 and noticed that instead
of the thread being tapered it was straight. screwed it in until it was tight
but realized it was leaking fluid when i changed out the master cylinder which
had developed a small leak. tightened it up a few more turns to stop the leak
then swapped the MC. during test drive noticed that brakes would not release
quickly. took a while to figure out that the threads on the brake light switch
were so long that they blocked off fluid in the connector. had to grind off
about 1/4 inch of stem and put an aluminum washer between the switch and the
connecter. problem solved. there was no washer included with the switch so
beware when you change one out that the threaded portion might be too long and
cause some problems.
