Dear Alan, I had the same issue with my starter, where it would not work well when it was hot. I put in a gear reduction starter and it works so well and does not draw as much current. I highly recommend you purchase one. I got mine from a gentleman that lives on Long Island and it was less than $200.00. I think he markets them on Ebay.
