That statement may be a bit too generalized. I'm looking at the 'Vehicle
Emission Vacuum Routing' block diagram for my
Mustang in the factory shop manual. There is a pipe from the air filter to the
LH valve cover; the PCV valve is on the
RH valve cover with a pipe going from the valve to the intake manifold; i.e.
it's a simple vacuum circuit with the PCV
valve to modulate. No oil separator (though I've seen some available in the
aftermarket).
Maybe 2008 isn't modern enough.
