My parking brake - even though the rear drums are adjusted to drag slightly -
has always barely caught in an almost
vertical position. Not anywhere close to the "3-clicks up" position as desired.
In the process of installing my Supra W58 tranny, I discovered the internal
mount for the handbrake lever was broken -
the weld had come loose from the frame x-member, allowing quite a lot of free
rotation before the lever caught.
I made a clamp-on reinforcing bracket and now the brake functions just like
emergency brakes on other cars - it'll
definitely hold the car on a hill.
Just a FWIW.
