The lead in your tank may be grounding out, a common problem.  Take
off the armachord, remove the lead, and check to make sure the lead is
properly isolated from ground.  If you leave it like this, galvanic
corrosion will eventually eat away the top of the sender.  Of course
JB weld will work perfectly here to fill up any holes.
