Although originally from Oklahoma, he was a stand out athlete at the
Carlisle, PA school for American Indians and did have a long career in
professional football and baseball. There is a town in PA named Jim
Thorpe, not really anywhere near Carlisle. He was thought by many to be
the greatest American athlete of the 20th century. He died in 1953.
