I was wondering that as well. I had just had the cap off a few weeks before
but had run the car several times with no problems. There is a slight bit
of play between the metal finger on the rotor and the bakelite rotor itself
where the two are attached with a rivit, but that play was there before. I
didn't look closely at the contacts inside the cap; I'll take a lolok at
that this morning.
