I forgot to mention this. I removed the plastic float on my new unit and
replaced it with the Ford part. Worth the effort. And, the Ford parts guy
knew that I was going to install it in - his words - an "old car" Guess I
was not the first one he had seen buy just a float. Incidentally, this part
is listed on my site on the Local Parts page.

Or replace the plastic float with a Ford part: COAZ-9202-B, available at
your local dealer. These are brass and are otherwise identical to the
plastic floats on the Moss units. I got two of the latter, one with a crack
and another with a hole at the end of the float arm wire where the wire was
sheared into a sharp point during manufacture. Pretty simple to fix the
problem, but Moss didn't seem interested.
