tune far better with a Pertronix, Lumenition Optronic etc. than with
points. Points these days are of abominable quality and get out of tune
fast. The metal of the points is not good and the cam folower is the
wrong material and wearing far to quickly. The result will be less
power, higher emissions, increased fuel consumption and may be burned
valves if very neglected.
You do not have to modify anything. It is just a bolt on device which
can easily be replaced by the original points set up when originality
counts.
