Problem that you are sure to have is that in time the wire clamp will wear a
hole in the float as the one you will be getting has the plastic float. I
would either swap it out from the one from the Ford dealer or be sure to
bend the tip of the wire up a little so that it does not wear a hole in the
float as others have suggested. As far as positive ground, that is what my
car has and it works fine.
