Alan; I believe you can still get a remanufactured Factory alloy block.

http://www.dmdaustralia.com.au/ It was quite a process, from pattern making
to installation. Back in 2002 both Jim Hockert and David Nock checked out the
price and it was going to be somewhere between $6,500 - $8,000 at that time.
It is now listed at $16,500 Aus or about 10,900 US.
