Although it's "safer"--from a legal standpoint--to be traveling at less speed
than indicated you can "calibrate" your speedometer by removing the needle and
repositioning it on the spindle. BTW, the "peg" the needle rests on retracts
to allow the needle to be positioned below zero to start.
