And, believe it or not, there is a registry for the Coolaire units installed
in Healeys. The registrar is Pat Yoas down in Texas. He keeps track of the
serial numbers of Coolaire units, not the VINs of the cars. If anyone is
interested in this, let me know and I'll put you in touch.
Pat provided me with a copy of the Coolaire manual, warranty card,
installation procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, parts list,
and evacuation/charging procedures. The cover of Healey Highlights (AHCUSA
club) for May-June 1981 shows all the parts laid out on a driveway. There
may have been an article about it in the magazine, but I don't have the
actual issue.
Warranty was given by British Motor Corp./Hambro, Inc., 734 Grand Avenue,
Ridgefield, NJ 07657.

I just discussed in my Sports Car Market column the Coolaire A/C units as
one
of the period accessories that were available for British cars. I was loaned
a set of the brochures from Norman Nock at British Car Specialists. Just a
clarification note here: these were not "factory installed" but rather were
accessories offered to U.S. dealers by one of the U.S. BMC importers. They
were
sold and installed by the dealers.
