[Healeys] Removing brake/clutch cylinder lock rings

Any suggestions on removing the brake and clutch master cylinder lock  
ring without gouging things up? It's been a long time since I've  
worked on these hydraulic cylinders. Going to try and rebuild both of  
mine (if the condition of the sleeve is good enough).
