Hi Bill,
The shocks were never painted silver. On a '67 BJ8 the shocks were usually
bare aluminum bodies with black phosphate arms (dull black). A swipe of
medium brown and a swipe of ivory white paint (applied with a small brush
roughly 1/2" wide) was across the top of the shock body at the filler plug
location. These sloppy paint swipes were paint codes used by Armstrong for
the BJ8 application.
