Setting your idle speed lower can help, but if it gets to the point where it
doesn't idle smoothly or occasionly stalls and you still have the
problem....kill it with the clutch.
Some will say a properly set up car in good order won't do this, others have
spent many many many hours searching for an answer, and not finding one,
have just decided to kill it with the clutch.
My freshly rebuilt engine is running on worse than it did before, runs cool,
mixture is good, etc. So I routinely follow Patrick's advice, key is to get
so smooth at it that no one notices.
