I got a new cam gear for my 100 engine rebuild from Moss and have a couple
of questions, first it comes with rivits because you have to re-attach the
oil thrower, they just look like a nail with no point on the end, do I just
"mash" the end with appropriate brute force to make it spread out a little
so it stays firmly in place? The old ones were a bear to get out and looks
like they may have been welded or soldered, but sometimes after 50 year or
more things want to stay together.
2nd, timing marks, they are different on the new gear by one sprocket, I
think this is because you actually get a a sprocket for 6 cylinder car and
you should modify the mark, but can't remember where I read that. More
mashing and brute force involved in making the new mark I suppose, or at
least a punch and a drill.
Thanks in Advance, I hape I am patient enough to await the good answers from
the group before I go out to the garage and muck everything up.
