My Nash Healey has one installed in the car.  Its below the floor under 
the driver's left heel.  Push down and "ding," let up for another 
"ding," and the tone is exactly like the ones installed at the station.  
I guess this is for when you are truly in the boondocks.  I haven't seen 
this on any other car, but maybe it was a common aftermarket item in 
1953.  This car was in Italy until the 80's, so maybe it was a European 
item.
