Kris One of the processes my shop does is TIG welding. We fix turbine engine parts and we're an FAA approved repair station. We have found that cleaning, by grit blasting, with 240 grit aluminum oxide will contaminate the base metal. The force associated by blasting at 60psi is enough to imbed particles of the aluminum oxide into Inconel and other high temp alloys. You can try to clean up the shroud by hand grinding the mating surfaces that you are welding. Steve Averka 56 100M |
