I've been going through all of the screws, etc. for my '62 BT7, trying
to match them up to the Service Parts List using the part number codes
to make sure that I have the correct type of screw. There are some that
do not seem to fit in with the system like HZN0406, but rather start
with 54K or 53K and the rest of the number doesn't seem to mean
anything.
If you don't have a copy of Austin Healey Restoration Guide by Roger Moment/
Gary Anderson, as a member of Austin Healey Club USA, you can get a discounted
price on this and many other Healey related publications. This guide has a
very comprehesive chapter devoted to fastners.
As for the fastners that have a 53K or other numbers similar to that, they
are special manufactured parts. You can see an example on my web site
www.dinritetool.com under Healey Products. Standard hardware items would fall
under the
code system and special requirement nuts, bolts, studs, etc would have the
digit and number.
