Hi Andy,
            pomme is  a mildly offensive word used to describe a Brit.It 
dates back to the early
            days and  describes pale white faces that turned red in the sun 
and resembled
             pomegranates.Regarding your post script the problem with Ossies 
is not that  their
            not too  bad,its that their too damn good.
