Prior to restoring my BT7, it didn't have a overdrive relay or throttle
switch. I drove it year round for 3 or 4 years with a working overdrive and
without any problems. As I was 18 at the time, I guess I didn't know any
better, but apparently neither did the car.

i may have stated this before, but when i lived in the portland area, a guy
who had a repair shop for british cars used to race healeys and they took
the throttle switch out(maybe relay also) and used to bang the od in and out
constantly. he stated that the od was tough and they never had a problem
with kicking it out while decelerating. i never had the guts to do it and
will not start now, but maybe someone else can back him up. healeymanjim
