These vents were on several different UK vehicles in the 50s and 60s.
Pretty sure the english Ford vans had them. I saw plenty of them on
vehicles while visiting the UK on holiday. I was looking for them and
the cool gas caps on the older double decker buses that were also
used by the works team.
There is an eBay seller who has been salvaging the vents and I bought
one. They do make a huge difference. The rear of the hardtop gets
horribly pressurized at speed and it really bothers my ears. Even in
my regular car if the front windows are open and the rear are closed,
the pressure and associated low frequency noise is unbearable. With
the hardtop vent, "ventilation" is not so improved as much as the
reduction of that pressure effect.
YMMV
