Hi, Skip -

The needle might be catching on the paper mask -- the thing that says SMITHS
FUEL. I had the same problem. It's easy enough to remove the chrome bezel
and glass, and with tweezers you can gently adjust (not bend!) the needle to
where it won't catch. The needle is actually a square U shape, and is
attached to the mechanism with a flexible joint.
If you can't fix it that way, you can always send it off for repair. The
usual sources for repair are Mo-Ma (address/phone provided by Bob Haskell),
Nisonger,570 Mamaroneck Ave.,Mamaroneck, New York, 10543 U.S.A./914-381-1786
fax/email info@nisonger.com.
I've never personally used either of those repair services, but my fuel
gauge was repaired by West Valley Instruments, 19314 Vanowen St., Reseda, CA
91335/Tel: 818-758-9500.

Good luck!

Where can I send a Smiths Fuel Gague from a 67 3000 to be rebuilt? The
needle
is loose and catches alterately between the glass and the face of the Gague.
Thanks in advance
