Hi listers,
when a friend dove my car, he reminded me to adjust my
handbrake. The lever was nearly upright in the fully on
position and that means about ten clicks.
Not a big problem, I thought. I removed the bolt on the
rear end of the cable, gave the fork end some turns and
adjusted the handbrake lever to 6 clicks, when fully on.
But ... when I released the handbrake I couldn't nearly turn
the drums. I disconnected the cable again, adjusted the
brake shoes with the adjuster screw so that the drums turned
free. Then I connected the handbrake cable and again the
drums where stuck.
So I had to take the fork end some turns back until
the drums where free. In this position the handbrake is
fully on with 8 clicks and I think, that's too much. The
compensator arm is turning free, the brake shoes are moving
free, the return springs seem to be okay. Any hints, what
else could be wrong?
