Rear seat back in MkII BT7

Have just been informed by one of our big suppliers in UK that the rear seat
backs in MkII BT7s were "always leather". Surely not?

To be clear, I am referring to the section against which the two tiny
unfortunates would lean had they consented to be crammed into the back. It
has 10 stitched panels on the vertical section, some padding under the top
section and piping around the top and up the sides. It hinges forward to
stow the hood.
