Bob,
I found many similar problems on my British Wiring harness (BJ7 - concours).
Here's list of what I found "wrong" or "different" from my original harness so
far
(not all installed yet). They did send me new items to fix/replace what was
wrong
but some things couldn't be fixed without a patch. My new harness was ordered
at least
three years ago so perhaps they have fixed the major items by now.
1. Windshield wiper harness should be lacquer braided wires, ground wire PVC
and black loomed with yellow flecks (instead of all PVC wires, black loom)
2. Same harness should have a three way snap connector instead of singles.
3. There are three red wires on the boot harness (where connects to the
chassis harness that should go into a double sleeve. One of the wires
should be 1-1/2" longer so that it can fold back and insert on the front side).
4. The OD harness should be comprised of 28 strand instead of 14 strands wires.
(easy to check this at the fuse block where the bare wires terminate). This to
me
is a major mistake as a melted OD harness or worse could result.
5. Terminals at the signal box should be straight forked terminals with
insulating
sleeves, not flag type terminals.
6. Wrong size eyelets for OD switch (haven't connected rest of guages or
flasher can)
7. Plastic socket for the turn signal lamp won't work, must wire in the original
lamp holder.
8. Fuel pump wire was much too short (17.5" instead of 34.5" of the original).
They must
have thought the fuel pump was still on the left side.
Anyway, I already posted to the list about the OD harness but make sure you
double
check the wire strands on yours.
Cheers,
John
