I'm splitting my reply into two messages. There's a limit on message size. I
don't know what the limit is, and there are some old messages the same size,
but
the first part went through. So here's the second..

4) The rear tail light harness has three red wires that plug into one double
sleeve. On the original harness, one wire was longer than the other two so it
could reach the other end of the sleeve. The three wires on the new harness
are
the same (short) length. I added a jumper wire with a fuse to the license plate
lamp (a la BJ8) lead to lengthen it.

5) The dimmer switch harness is 2" too long. Not a problem other than the loom
is the original length. The loom should start just before the harness exits
the dimmer switch bracket/grommet. With the extra length, the loom starts 2"
past the grommet. I removed the terminals, shortened the wires and re-soldered
the terminals on.

6) I think the section of the main harness that goes down to the starter relay
is an inch or so too short. I can't install the cable clamp next to the
firewall insulation panel. But my original harness was cobbled up, so I don't
know what the length should be.

7) I found that the rubber sleeves were too loose on a few bullet sleeve
connectors. I replaced the connectors with some others I had.

8) The new wiper motor harness has three single bullet sleeve connectors
instead
of the original triple connector. I'll probably use an old one.

9) I'm not sure the leads for the front turn signal lamps are long enough. The
original harness wasn't original in this area, so I don't know what the length
is suppose to be. But as currently routed, the leads just barely make it to
the
lamp. The leads are suppose to be long enough to tie them to the rubber bulb
of
the lamp assembly with an o-ring. I don't have that much length at the moment.
Need to look at some more.

One thing that surprised me was that the colors given in the wiring diagram in
the workshop manual didn't always match the harness. The new and old harnesses
did seem to match each other.

Bob
