Mondays Nelson report.
The day was again very sunny. Very warm again but perhaps a little less than
yesterday. Registration during the midday, car cleanup in the parking lot
and a nice reception late afternoon and early evening. Registration is
currently over two hundred and a few more expected tomorrow. The BC club has
done a
great job of organizing the meet. Don't have a count on the number of Healeys
in the lots but there are a bunch. Nice to see them running around town.
Appears only a few cars trailered in, several because of extended travel before
and after the meet.
Starting to hear stories of the cars that were finished just in time to make
their first long run. Takes a fair amount of courage to launch a fresh
restoration onto the highway, especially were cell phones don't work very well.
Also the trials encountered along the way, fuel pumps, flat tires, etc giving
up
the ghost are beginning to turn up in conversations over a cool drink.
Folks are here from all over. The Pacific northwest is well represented as
expected. Have some old friends Steven and Helen Pike and pal Christine from
Australia, Bill Emerson, folks from Switzerland, Florida and points between.
Tomorrow will be the popular car show, concours judging for 4 Healeys and a
BBQ lunch.
Side note: Had a nice late dinner with the Trummels and got to know a bit
more of the local scoop about Nelson BC from a very talkative waitress.
Interesting place.
Still having fun and the wife is still speaking to me....
Aloha
