Nitrophyle foam

Someone recently discussed a "wish-list of parts upgrades,  etc.  Given the 
frequency of folks having problems with sunken carb and  tank sender floats 
I've been wondering why floats could not be made of a  fuel-proof foam material.

 
See the below link for Nitrophyle foam--according to the manufacturer it  can 
be molded and machined.
