Folks,
No-one has mentioned ceramic-coating the muffler and pipes. I did this with my
Buell X1 in '00, and the difference was amazing; only about 1/3 of the heat was
coming off of the header pipes and muffler. Keeping the heat in the pipes makes
the exhaust flow faster too.
The chrome-looking finishes are not as good as the darker grey or black ones.
Coating from the manifold-back keeps an amazing amount of heat out of the
engine-bay and off of the underbody. The manifold and pipes get coated inside
and out, but the muffler only gets coated on the outside.
Also, what about a heat shroud bolted to the car above the muffler?
