Indeed -
The BN1 gearbox in many respects is superior to the later 4 speed box,
save for the 3rd gear problem. If a replacement gearset and synchros
were available using modern, stronger materials, i'm sure there would
a couple hundred takers, including yours truly. Unfortunately since
the factory produced three different sets of gear styles for the box,
the best thing to do would be to just do a complete gear and synchro
set new, but that would be expensive I am sure of it... but heck it
couldn't be much more than a Smitty conversion.... at the end of the
day.
