front hub stud removal

Looking for suggestions on removing the 5 studs that bolt the front hub to 
brake disc (wire wheels).  A few good raps with a 5 lb hammer didn't budge any 
of them.  I note with some surprise that replacements are $9.20 each thru Moss. 
 
Can old studs be safely removed and re-used, or are new ones recommended on a 
re-build?  Current ones are probably original.
