Well, I FINALLY got the door open. Had to use a few "tools' not normally
thought of for cars,. I think I invented a couple of new swearwords, too.
NOW I can get at the door to disassemble it and see what is really wrong. I
removed the striker plate, and have rigged a bungee to hold the door shut -
which actually works pretty well (so far as safety is concerned, the car has
a roll bar and competition seat belts which permit very little movement) so
I can drive the car (hate to waste any nice Spring days) whilst stewing over
the door repair issue.
