There aren't that many Healeys around now which have original paint, but we
had two, a Healey Blue BJ8 Phase 1 and a white '65 Phase II which used to
come in occasionally for service or repair. These were both were original
owner cars and both have since faded away.
These cars had original, although rather tatty, paint and both had the
flanges of the rockers (sills) and fenders (wings) hand painted with the
same satin black as the lower flange of the rear shroud. You tend to notice
these things when a car is up on a hoist.
I am not hereby proclaiming that this was the case on all BJ8s or just blue
and white cars or whatever, but it does seem rather strange that there would
be some devious individual wandering the streets of Toronto painting the
lower flanges of these parts satin black!!!
Anyone else come across this?
