Wow....hit a raw nerve.
Lots of responses that all mention Penrite Steering Lube. I tried the 80/90
weight and that was probably my problem.
Many also mentioned the Olive which I will check.

The repair is time and space consuming. Buy the thickest oil you can
find (STP and an oil additive made by Lucas Oil are the thickest I
know of) and see if the leakage stops. It will be time next winter to
repair the seal or shaft or both, if the leak is coming from the
bottom of the box where the steering lever connects..
If the drip is coming from the "olive" at the end of the box where the
wires come out, that is simpler. If that is the problem, get another
olive (cheap) from Mike Salter and install carefully. The leak should
stop.
The quickest fix is one described in the Healey Surgeons website, but
it only works if the shaft itself isn't worn.
