Hi Scott,
The BJ 7 rear seat back does not fold flat. It only tips forward slightly to
allow a bit of "fiddle room" to stow the top. The simple hinges bolt straight
to the car, no wooden strip. The metal angle brackets bolted to the wheelarch
are unique to the BJ 7 and hold a pair of bonnet prop rubbers, which receive
the footmans loops ("breeching staples" in the parts book, and also used for
tire straps) on each side of the rear face of the seat back, to hold the seat
back in place vertically. The fasteners on the top edge fit the Top Boot,
which is also unique to the BJ 7- no straps.
The idea for converting the seat back to a flat luggage platform came with the
BJ 8.
Best regards
Peter
