As a sidelight to this thread, when changing over to a spin-on filter you
can do a quick test to check the efficiency of your oil pump.
Make sure at least one of the bolts holding the adaptor to the block is
not tightened all the way - then start the engine, rev it up, then shut it off
- if you get between 1 and 3 quarts of oil on the floor - the oil pump is
likely OK.
If you get more than 3 quarts, you may want to de-tune the oil pump.
