Ned,
Before I restored my MK II, I drove it all the time, spring summer fall, for
about 12 years. --The only things I ever had trouble with were wheels and
tires, --because I had not gone to the expense to put new splines, wheels and
tires on... and was always running on a hodgepodge of old wheels and splines.
--Even at that, I think I had 2 stripped hubs and one flat in the 12 years.
Oh, ----and once, the battery kill switch failed, -in my garage, which kept
the car off the road for a couple of days, before I figured it out.
I found the car to be extremely reliable, --and once all of the post
restoration bugs are worked out, I hope it will be, again.

Most of the stories I hear about trips in Healeys run like this: "I was no
my way to XXX and the car broke down". Rarely do I see, "I drive it all the
time and I hardly ever have a problem." This is might be because breakdown
stories are more interesting than nothing happened stories.

  So which is it?

A few days ago my engine stopped because the ignition condenser failed. In
all my years of driving, this has never happened to me before. Was this an
isolated incident or should I expect these odd occurrences on a regular
  basis?
