Hi Bill,
Yes, the black under bonnet area in your Carmine Red '53 BN1 is a bit of an
anomoly, but not unheard of.
As for the black interior, you are quite right. The black trimmed Carmine
Red BN1's were piped with a "red" that had quite an orange hue to it. This
also was found on the door shut piping. It added that bit of flash to what
otherwise would have been a rather boring scheme.
