Thank you to those who responded to my trafficator problem. As noted by
several, the problem is indeed in the "brake switch overridding relay," as the
manual terms it. A good whack with the butt of screwdriver seems to
temporarily re-align the Lucas smoke inside, but of course it drifts back into
some random orientation in short order, again rendering the right front
inoperable. There doesn't appear to be any way to access the upper screw
holding the relay in place without removing the air duct, which, of course,
will not budge from its mouth up by the grille. Nor does it seem that one
would have enough room to work on it in place even if one could somehow
"prise" off the cover around the duct. Looks like hand signals aren't such a
bad idea.

Bruce ... The flasher switch ONLY works the relay in the small box under the
L/F fender nothing else ... to diagnos your problem remove wires from flasher
unit and join together ... turn the switch to the right and with a test light
check if you have a hot wire at #2 and #3 on the relay box , if you don't the
problem is in that box ... now turn the switch to the left and check #6 and #
7 both should be hot ... if both are hot your problem is from there to the
lamp ... check Austin Healey Magazine 1994 March OR page 1 and 2 in my Tech
Talk book ... Norman Nock
