Folks... taller jack stands, suitable for trucks, etc., are readily
available, and not particularly expensive. Even sources like Harbor Freight
have them. And, at a cost of 1 one hundredth of what the deductible will be
for your hospital stay will be, should you survive the chest and skull
crushing injuries when the car teeters off the concrete blocks.
You're not just jacking a car up to look at it from afar... you'll be
underneath it, applying a couple of hundred pounds of leverage at times,
via long wrenches to a variety of nuts and bolts, and the risk of knocking
it off a veritable house of cards is quite real.
Wise up people.

Hey Allen,
Inquiring minds would like to know where you got the lift for $1785.
I also agree that cement blocks are an accident waiting to happen, I am
older and somewhat smarter now and wouldn't chance them.
Ned, I have built blocks to raise the car up about 18", I used 2 X 8
boards and stacked them log cabin style (cribbing) I nailed each pair at
the corners with 16d. nails for each course. The wood is in compression
and I imagine it could hold many tons of weight. The tire sits in the
middle and there is no chance for the wheel to roll out.
