Probably, but I happen to be the 2nd owner of a carmine red BN1
manufactured on 11-5-53 that DID have a black under bonnet. That was
documented by the original owner, who I spoke with at length, and
confirmed when the car was stripped for restoration. Also, many years
ago Geoff Healey told me that some cars were done that way although he
could not remember why. It seems very odd to me that a red car was done
like that but, mine was.
And yes, Mr. Goldsworth, it is a hellova lot easier to keep clean!
