I had the same problem long ago, with my brakes. -Bought the shims, and some
blue gunk that went on them, and never had the problem again.
Left the shims out, when I restored it..... haven't squeaked since, but it
hasn't been a lot of miles, either. --If they do, the shims go right back
in!

When I replaced the rotors and pads on th BT7 a few months ago I was told
that the metal shims behind the rotor pads were not necessary so I did not
replace them. Now the brakes squeak at every light. Could this be from the
new rotors and pads or are the shims essential to the proper working of the
