As any rally-ist will remind you (over and over): Distance (miles) Speed (mph) = -------------------- times 3600 (S = D/T x 3600) Time (seconds) For example: 60 mph = 60 miles / 1 hour (60sec x 60 min=3600) x3600 40 mph = 1mile / 90 sec x 3600 or Time to travel 1 mile in seconds at a given speed = 3600 divided by the speed For example: 40 mph = 3600 / 40 = 90 sec to go 1 mile 50 mph = 3600 / 50 = 72 sec to go 1 mile or Time to travel 1 mile in seconds divided into 3600 = your average speed for that mile GaryB |
