Listers,

I had a thought (I know, treat it kindly, etc.)

In my present climate and manner of driving, I will probably never again
require my heater, though I have left it installed for cosmetic purposes.
Since it had a small leak, I bypassed it some time ago, with a short length
of hose running from the block tap, up and over to the return pipe above the
carbs.

It occurred to me that possibly a tank of some sort, holding as much as two
or three gallons of additional coolant, could easily be accommodated on the
right-hand, somewhat cooler, side of the engine, and that it MIGHT be as
simple as just using the heater hoses to connect same. One could also
install a shut-off, just in case the car ran too cold in the spring and
fall.

Any thoughts as to whether this would be feasible, or whether the existing
water pump would actually circulate the extra water around the system, etc.

I would guess that one hose should go to the top, and one to the bottom, of
any such arrangement, but which should go where?

Thanks for any input.

Dick Hosmer
