Hi Michael -

While I agree with you 100%, you and I both know we will never be able
to shut it down! Absolutely let's try to depoliticise this list as
much as reasonably possible, and appreciate that our list members have
opinions on such matters when they do inevitably pop up... but like
the friday funnies let's just click to the next email if there's
something you don't like to read.

That's what freedom of speech is all about... not only expressing or
listening to opinions other than your own.... but also being able to
not listen/read if you don't want.  Trust me, I learned this all too
well being a "Reagan Republican" while attending UC Berkeley in the
1980s!

For the long term health of this very valuable and useful list... I
hope the occasional political rant (whatever it may be) is just
that... occasional.
